PG2 Course
Licence to Fly
Currently SkyWings operates one PG2 course per year. This course is delivered over the month of February and is designed to be the most cost effective way of gaining your full PG2 license in the country. All course profits are donated to the HighSide Community Project so you can learn to fly and support a charitable community initiative at the same time.
Most of your training will be conducted at our HighSide Flight Park at Karioitahi, we own and live on site so this gives you priority use during the course. The Karioitahi coastal cliff is a world class coastal soaring site giving the smoothest most predictable conditions possible. This is extremely important in your early days as a pilot while you learn mastery over your aircraft and build the theoretical understanding of airflow and turbulence that will liberate you to be able to tackle more complex site with a much higher degree of safety.
We advocate that our students prioritise flying in smooth coastal conditions like Karioitahi until the act of flight and assessing turbulence become second nature. From this solid base of skill and understanding you will then be able to progress to more complex and risky sites with a much higher degree of safety as much more of your mental attention will be available to assess the ever changing weather, and its interaction with more complex terrain. This will in turn determine your flight path, takeoff and landing strategies.
PG2 Course
License to Fly
A full paragliding pilots licence enabling you to fly solo anywhere - from $2000 (includes the PG1 qualification).
The PG2 course is the foundation of paragliding. It's the level that allows you to fly free by yourself anywhere in the world. Put simply it's your licence to fly.
If your dream is to learn to fly a paraglider, to take your gear and travel the world seeing sights and having experiences the likes of which most people would never imagine possible. The PG2 licence is your ticket to this reality.
Fly up to the clouds and stay aloft for hours flying for mile upon mile exploring the world while harnessing the power of nature. Perform adrenalin pumping acts of aerobatics. Speed down mountain slopes and valleys in close proximity to the terrain or fly endless coastal cliffs into the setting sun. Whatever your dreams, the PG2 licence is what you need to start your journey.
The course is run full time over the month of February until you reach the PG2 standard and graduate. Includes all the study materials you'll need to pass the exams and all the flight park fees.
